Four hulls carry the Cataclysm name and there will not be a fifth soon. A supercarrier is the largest thing the United Galactic Authority builds, the largest thing Ordin Orbital can lay down, and the only class in the inventory that does not need anyone's permission to operate anywhere in the system. Each is an Admiral's command, controlling a quadrant of inner space, run day to day by a Commodore beneath the flag.

It does not move quickly and has never been asked to. A supercarrier's heading is public long before it arrives, and by the time it does, the matter it was sent to settle has usually settled itself. Presence is the primary weapon. Doctrine treats the class as heavy cavalry: slow to commit, decisive once committed, and self-sufficient enough to operate without support for as long as the tasking requires.

Eleven wings deploy from twelve side hangars, five active to a side with a sixth configured to whatever the Fleet has decided the mission is. A thirteenth bay sits beneath the keel, larger than any of them, shared with the transport traffic that carries every officer and delegation reporting aboard. Every wing rates its own Wing Commander. No other class in the Fleet spends command that way.

Supercarriers are named for extinction events. The Fleet did not choose that convention to sound poetic; it chose it because the name reaches a sector before the hull does, and a sector that stands down costs nothing to hold. Cataclysm. Destruction. Devastation. Oblivion. Christened in that order, and the order is not accidental.

Cataclysm was first, and first-of-class names the class. Every hull that follows carries her name alongside its own for as long as the class exists. Oblivion is the newest addition to the Fleet.

Nothing in this system has ever killed one.
