"Humanity's first home — and its hardest."
Ordin is where humanity began. A volcanic world of deep heat and hard ground, it was never gentle, and that is precisely what shaped the people who came from it. They did not merely endure the fire beneath them; they learned to tap it. Everything the species became, it became here first, built on ground it had wrestled into use and powered by the heat of the world itself.
Ordin's harshness was the engine of the whole system's history. It was not ambition that pushed humanity outward but necessity: the search for water, open air, and gentler ground the homeworld could not spare. That search reached the Vega Twins, the first inviting destination, and the outposts that took root there eventually outgrew the military structure that founded them. What began as Ordin's overflow became, in time, a people of its own.
Today Ordin is the industrial heart of the United Galactic Authority: its great shipyards, its heavy manufacturing, its seat of power, all of it fed by the geothermal energy its people drew up from the deep. Its bond with the Twins is less rivalry than lineage: the old home and the new, tied by history even as they diverge. What is built in Ordin's yards still decides what the rest of the system can do.
Ordin's yards are the Fleet's forge. The heavy hulls, the capital refits, the small craft that fill a carrier's bays: the capacity to build and repair them at scale lives here, and nowhere else in the system matches it. That makes Ordin less a place on a map than a precondition: what the United Galactic Authority can field anywhere begins with what Ordin can build.
It is also the frontier. Ordin borders the Scatter, the lawless sprawl of Karth Field where raiders and worse take shelter, which makes the homeworld the first line of order against everything the Outer Rim throws inward. Seat of UGA authority and last bastion before the reaches, Ordin is the center of gravity the rest of the system arranges itself around. To move against it is to move against the origin, the industry, and the command all at once. Few have ever tried.
